Castle Grad na Goričkem

The largest Baroque castle in Slovenia was built by the Knights Templar in the 11th century. It was completed in the 17th century and got the appearance it has today through additions and renovations in the 18th and 19th centuries. The castle is surrounded by a large English style park. The various large trees can’t help but inspire grandeur. Several legends are associated with the castle, the most famous being the legend of the dragon with the golden crown.

Rotunda

The Rotunda of St Nicholas and the Virgin Mary is of outstanding importance, both for its Romanesque architecture and its Gothic wall paintings. Legend has it that the church originally belonged to the Templars. The entrance to the rotunda symbolically marks Christ's arrival in Jerusalem, which proves to be a special experience for visitors. This small round shrine in Selo, on the outskirts of eastern Goričko, is one of the most important pieces of art in Prekmurje.

Island of Love

A floating mill on the River Mura, a büjrastvo exhibition and peaceful nature await you on the Island of Love. Throughout the year, you can take a boat to the other side of the river; this is one of the few links that still exists between the left and right bank of Mura. A special experience for visitors is the 'pajani kruj', a special type of bread, which you can try to make yourself over an open fire.

Vinarium Tower in Lendava

The 53.5-meter-high Vinarium lookout tower offers visitors beautiful scenery of the colourful landscape stretching from the Lendava Mountains all the way to the Mura River basin, capturing breathtaking views of the plains and hills of Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, and Austria. The tower's highest viewing platform can be reached comfortably by lift or by climbing the 240 steps.

Plečnik's Church in Bogojina

Jože Plečnik's Church is one of the most modern church buildings in Europe. It is a superb piece of architecture that perfectly combines the old with the new, that was created specifically for Prekmurje. The snow-white building is known by locals as The White Dove. Its unusual appearance greets the visitor from afar with a round bell tower, which, next to a ceiling decorated with local handmade pottery, is a real feast for the eyes.

Bukovniško jezero

Bukovniško jezero is surrounded by the Urbanija forest to the south and the Zgornja Šuma forest to the north. Wet meadows stretch out into its surroundings, fields predominate in the slightly elevated areas, and vineyards stretch out on the tops of the slopes. The lake, which is about eight hectares big, has an average depth of two metres and is up to five metres deep in some places. Visitors often witness the lake becoming a mirror of its surroundings: reflecting trees, huts, the sky, and clouds.
